Declutter Agenda

Paperwork ~ work on every week until caught up; then MAINTAIN!

On the rest of these, I would like to do a room/area a month. I haven't decided the order yet. I just want to get these listed on the computer before I lose the paper list!

The reason I have a basement and a downstairs is because we live in an old building in a downtown area. We live upstairs. Downstairs is where our store was until we moved it to a better location for our business. We still live here and still use the downstairs as a small warehouse and now we also have some of our personal stuff there too - mainly holiday decorations and kid toys which would normally be outdoor toys but we have no yard so they play in part of the downstairs. Then we also have a basement which was full of the previous retail owners' stuff when we bought the building so the goal is to get our stuff out of there and organized and then clear the rest out (it's mostly crap/trash although there are a few things we'd like to try and sell. We've already cleared out over 2 roll-off dumpsters of stuff from the basement and storage unit.) Oh, the storage unit is just an open space next to our apartment. That also still has quite a bit of stuff from the previous owner although now over half of it is ours. I think. We've been working on these areas piecemeal but it's not making much of a dent so this year we want to concentrate our efforts and if not get it complete, at least get a large chunk of it done.

One thing I need to keep in mind as I schedule these areas is neither the storage unit or the basement is climate controlled. It is too cold to work much in either place in the winter and too hot to work in the storage unit in the summer. I really want to get that storage unit organized sooner rather than later so I need to do that in the springtime. I'm going to plan for March or April and hope we don't have a long winter and an early summer!

I wish I could do all of these areas RIGHT NOW! Some of them are really irritating me. But I know if I jump in too quickly, I'll just get frustrated and won't do a good job so I'm going to take my time and do it right.
